X-raid, das erste Profi-Team, das die
Saudi Arabia Hail Baja fährt |
| Die Saudi Arabia Hail Baja findet vom 11. bis 14. Februar 2008 statt. Zum ersten Mal nimmt ein Profi-Team an dieser Rallye in Saudi Arabien teil. Für das X-raid AlgoDyne Green Power Racing Team startet Nasser Saleh Al-Atiyah und sein franzöischer Copilot Matthieu Baumel. Die Saudi Arabia Hail Baja ist die erste von sechs in diesem Jahr stattfindenden Cross-Country Bajas für den FIA International Cup. |
Und so schlägt sich das X-raid Team:
Dienstag, 12. Februar, Prolog: Nasser Saleh Al-Attiyah holt sich den zweiten Platz. Vor ihm mit nur 3 Sekunden Vorsprung kommt der Niederländer Tonnie Van Dejine ins Ziel. Der Komentar von Nasser: "To be second on the road tomorrow is great as we have never been here before, if the tracks are fast tomorrow we have a good chance of having a good result tomorrow".

Kommentar von X-raid: The second stage of the Hail Baja Rally 2009 started early this morning and it was still dark when the cars departed from the parc fermee. A sandy stage full of camel grass was waiting for the competitors after a 1000 km liaison. With the temperatures being low as 8 degrees this morning it was not a question of outside temperature problems, but the teams in the cars had to work hard to find there way through endless camel grass and many times of pist. It was a 100% sand stage and obviously it suited the BMW X3 CC from the AlgoDyne Green Power Racing team when they headed north into the desert. Nasser and Matthieu opened the stage as the organiser had placed the seeded drivers first this morning. At the refuel stop after 177.1 Km Nasser was already leading by more than 7 minutes and could have taken the remaining 122 km easy. Nevertheless this was not the objective as besides racing it was a good test for the new prepared BMW X3 CC and Nasser decided to push a bit more on the remaining km. Finally at the end of the stage Nasser and Matthieu were leading by 19.54 minutes before the Russian Boris Gadasin in there Nissan Navara, followed by the Mitsubishi of Miroslav Zapletal from the Czech Republic. “It was a very hard stage for the car and for the drivers looking more like a though stage on the Dakar with lots of Camel grass”, commented Nasser after the finish. "It was not an easy stage at all," said co-driver Baumel. "There was a lot of camel grass everywhere. If you slipped off the defined track you could get into trouble. We started carefully, because it was our first event together, but Nasser pushed more towards the end. We took no chances. It would have been easy to make an expensive mistake." The team is looking forward to tomorrow’s stage which should be a bit faster and as well with some hard ground.
